Holiday Blog Prompt 3

What concept(s) from Algebra II did you most struggle with? Why? We will be revisiting many Algebra II concepts this semester, what do you plan to do differently to master them?

  1. Honestly, I feel like I struggled most with factoring in Algebra II probably, which is pretty sad since we still use it in advanced math, but I’m still not really sure how to do it correctly. I actually feel like I struggled more with geometry even though I passed that class with a better grade than algebra. When it comes to taking ACT, the geometry is a huge portion of it, and I am always lost on what to do. The algebra, I have an idea atleast of what the question is asking.

The problems where they give you a bunch of lines with a few angles and ask you to find another angle is something I have a lot of trouble with. Chapter 9 for us only showed how to do one triangle, so it doesn’t really help me out too much.

Another thing I have some trouble with from algebra II is when they give you an equation and ask you to graph it. I’m not sure how to get the points.

  2. Algebra II was a big struggle for me. I actually think I’m doing better in Advanced Math! Haha..
Factoring wasn’t that bad for me. Oh and conic sections. I had a hard time with exponents, roots and radical expressions, and function operations. The only reason I know this is because I pulled out my Algebra II notebook and I have question marks all over these sections, oops.. Graphing was a big problem for me too! I never knew where to draw anything or how to find the points. Another thing I remember not knowing how to do was equations with x, y, and z. Don’t remember what it was called, but I KNOW I didn’t know what I was doing.

Hopefully when we revisit Algebra II I’ll understand it more.

  3. The hardest sections in Algebra II came at the end of the year. I often struggled with small things i guess because I never paid enough attention to them. I had trouble with things like completing the square, logarithms, and inequalities. Whenever we had to factor and complete the square I would always do it the other way because I hated it so much :/ Logs were also hard for me too. I know nothing about that which is pretty sad. I don't remember how I passed that test. This year I plan to focus harder especially on the little things so I will understand everything I learn. That way, next year i will be completely prepared for calc :)

  4. Ok so I can't really remember exactly what I struggled with in Algebra II because I pretty much struggle with all kinds of math so it's all kind of a blur. I know we did some graphing in algebra that I really didn't get but I don't remember exactly what graphing that was. As I'm writing this blog I think I am starting to realize my problem. My memory completely sucks when it comes to math. Anyway, back to the blog prompt....I wish I could tell you some stuff I struggled with but I really just can't remember. All I know is that I did much better in algebra than I am in advance math. Soooo I'm hoping by revisiting algebra II stuff will help me remember stuff and I'll do better this semester :) Some stuff I can try and master this semester is remembering stuff and getting more help from Stephanie and maybe even convincing Brandon to help me some.

  5. Honestly Algebra 2 was really confusing and long and made me want to kill myself. The graphing part and long complex stuff got me so mad at time in algebra 2. In advance math everything so easy but some of the stuff can be blah if I don’t study for them. In this semester I will put myself in task to study harder and know all the formulas in back of my hand. One more thing that really makes me mad in algebra 2 is whenever it gives you a graph and you got to determine what the answer and formula for the graph.

  6. Well for me algebra II was very easy. I didn't struggle at all. I had a couple of problems here and there but over all I got most of it for the most part. I think that to improve what I didn't understand in Algebra II (which is nothing) I will listen and pay attention to what Mrs. Robinson has to say in class. Oh wait.. I did have some trouble with logs.. but that is about it. I think anyways. Well have a good day :)

  7. Honestly, I stuggled with the whole Algebra 2 class altogether. I, myself, need to find a new way to remember all the formulas. I can't exactly go through each thing and remember what i struggled with because it was many things. I felt that in the beginning of this year, since we skipped through chapters 1-6 i forgot MANY of the things we shouuld know to be able to do trig and this advanced math class. From what i think i struggles with squared roots, linear equations and simple graphing things like that. I'm not sure why but I really need a refresher..

  8. well i can't just pick one thing that i struggled with because algebra 2 SUCKED for me! I had a lot of trouble throughout the whole year. I felt like i didn't know anything going on but yet i still had a B. Don't know how i pulled that off but pretty much what everyone else is saying thats exactly how i felt. So what susan is saying i had trouble with too. Me and her were always lost in that class so we had to stick together :)
Good thing were going to go over algebra 2 because i really need to be refreshed!

  9. Algebra II was pretty easy for me. The only thing that got me a little confused was slope, graphing things, and figuring out their points. I’m just not good at figuring out those types of things. Another thing is all the formulas dealing with slope. I just can’t seem to remember them, at all. I hope we don’t have to do anything to do with slope this semester because i might die. Well anyway, i think that if i just study it more and try to teach it to myself i could understand it. Another thing i don’t get is when you have to find the formula for the graph, that just really aggervates me. And also vice versa. I am a lot better at algebra II than advanced math. I’m not very good at trigonometry. I think i might actually learn all the formulas this semester so i don’t put myself in a stressful situation like i did the first semester.

  10. In Algebra 2 I didnt struggle with much. I actually enjoyed algebra 2. I understood most of the problems. If there was one thing that I would have to say I stuggled with at the time was graphing in general. I knew how to work out all of the problems and I knew all of the formulas, but when it came to graphing I hated. No matter if it was shaded graphing or regular graphing or even charts.I have improved in graphing since coming over to advanced math. I still don't enjoy graphing but I am better at it.
